NEWS JUST IN: Chaos in Zandspruit

Choas erupted earlier this morning in the Zandspruit informal settlement when residents violently went on the rampage.

Honeydew police confirmed that residents had blocked Beyers Naude Drive and Marina Avenue in protest action.

“Residents also damaged the Total garage opposite Zandspruit,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

This was another protest by residents after Eskom, once again cut off all illegal connections in the informal settlement on 14 March.

“Eskom cut all power connections to the informal settlement.  No serious injuries reported for now,” concluded Jacobs.

Motorists are advised to avoid Beyers Naude drive at the informal settlement section.
