Local DJ promises to keep crowds on their feet at the Litty Street Party in Sandton

Maragon Private School learner and DJ, Kelvin Paton shows off his skill.

A passionate young DJ, Kelvin Paton (16) has vowed to leave the crowd wanting more at the Litty Street Party to be held at The Sands in Sandton on 1 July.

The upcoming artist, who is in Grade 11 at Maragon Private Schools, has started compiling songs for his set in preparation for this exciting gig.

This young performer will share the stage with top artists such as DJ Voltex, Mac G and other young up-and-coming mixers on the evening.

This event is powered by Caxton and is an exclusive U19 roar of the year.

In an interview with the publication, Paton said, “A fusion of deep house, hip-hop and trap mixes is what the fans can expect from my rocking set.”

Paton’s love for turntables began after he was introduced by a friend to a music academy in Bryanston a year ago. “I started djing last year after I accompanied a friend to Rise Academy,” he recalled.

And due to his passion for sound, Paton has decided to take a chance with the academy to fulfil his dream.

His supportive father, Donovan, gave the academy a thumbs up and said the music school does not only teach them about music but also educates the schoolchildren about the business side of things.

Rise Academy teaches them public speaking, business acumen, entrepreneurship and a lot more about promoting themselves.”

He indicated that he also wanted his son to pursue a business-related course in case he needed something to fall back on.

As djing has become popular in the past few years, the youngster who is also influenced by international DJs and music producers such as Diplo and Martin Garrix, said his journey has not been easy or smooth.

“It’s quite difficult trying to get your name out there because everyone is a DJ. However, I plan to keep promoting myself, play at private gigs and release singles in the future,” Paton explained.

Apart from the much-anticipated Litty Street Party, the aspiring music producer mentioned that he has a few gigs scheduled during the course of this month. All the details are available on his social media pages.
