Sector 3 has a new acting chairperson

Radiokop resident Carolyn Lanzillotti has been welcomed as the new acting chairperson of the Honeydew Sector 3 Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Lanzillotti stepped up to the position on 12 July during a monthly CPF meeting held at the new venue.

She accepted the position after the immediate resignation of Reg Mazibuko, who was a dedicated leader of Sector 3 for a couple of years. Mazibuko decided to bow out due to personal reasons.

The acting chair paid tribute to Mazibuko’s contribution to the CPF. “We thank Reg for his leadership, we will miss him and wish him all the best,” she said.

The forum also elected an acting board which consists of Tony Botes as the deputy chairperson and Helen McDonald as secretary.

Reinforcing the CPF’s mandate in the community, Lanzillotti said they are to focus on the following key areas of concern:

• Increasing the number of Sector 3 police vehicles.

• Working more closely with the security companies and identifying ways to empower them more.

• Creating Sector 3 general and emergency WhatsApp groups.

• Creating awareness campaigns and increasing the participation of residents within Sector 3.

Lanzillotti added, “We are seeking expert advice about the process of constituting the official board, perhaps via an elective AGM, and hope this will happen soon. We also need to ensure the board is representative of the diversity in our sector.”

Sector 3 CPF meetings will take place every second Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm at Eagle View Guest House and Conference Centre in Little Falls.

Lanzillotti also thanked the Little Falls and Strubens Valley Residential Community for assisting with the new venue.
