The latest crime statistics from Honeydew’s Sector 2 policing precinct have shown an increase in robbery-related crimes.
The statistics indicate that the area is still battling with a spike in house and business robberies. The study also revealed that theft of motor vehicles and theft out of motor vehicle were problematic.
Sector 2 covers areas such as Weltevreden Park, Randpark Ridge, Allen’s Nek, Panorama and many more.

Although the robbery concerns remained critical, the sector was able to heave a sigh of relief as murders and attempted murders showed a slight decrease since last month.
Honeydew Community Policing Forum Sector 2 chairman, John Baisely, expressed concerns in a recent meeting, saying that the volume of crime in Honeydew was abnormal. He further cautioned residents to be extra vigilant on the roads.
“Hijacking is a concern. Residents must make sure they are not being followed,” he said, adding that residents residing along Beyers Naudé Drive need to stay alert with regard to crime.
In an attempt to keep the community aware of the latest crime trends, the CPF advised that it will be trying to identify hotspots and provide incident statistics which will be made available daily, and passed on to Residents’ Association representatives, who will in turn keep the residents informed.
The next CPF meeting will be held on 27 July at Honeydew Police Station.
