Clarise Luyk and Dyllan Opperman from Team Rage have been invited to be part of the South African Kickboxing team. They will be competing against various international teams. The pair qualified when they achieved top results in the recent Grade North 1 competition in Brakpan. Clarise won a silver and a gold medal, and said that it is an honour to be chosen to represent the country.

“I accept the challenge that I have been offered, and will make the most of the opportunity. I did not expect to be selected as it is rare for two females to be chosen in one age category.

It shows that my hard work and dedication is paying dividends,” she said.

Dyllan, who won one gold and two bronze medals, is no stranger to representing the country. He has done so on numerous occasions and was humbled to once again be selected to be part of the national team.

“It always feels great to be selected and representing my country is a very humbling experience. Out of over 1 000 kickboxers, I managed to catch the eye of the judges, and that boosts my confidence as well.”

The kickboxers will also be preparing for the Grade North 3 competition which will be taking place next month.
