“The BMW was too fast to even notice its registration number,” a local resident said after witnessing a crash involving a light motor vehicle and a motorcycle on Fredenharry Road this past weekend.

A motorcyclist was injured on the evening of 3 September when being allegedly hit by a white BMW 3 series. The driver fled the scene.

Brett Gower told Northsider that the incident happened right in front of his eyes. “We were next to the bike when it got hit. The BMW raced down Fredenharry and turned left onto Witwatersrand Road and then onto Theophilus Road where we lost it,” Gower explained.

Following the driver’s quick escape and knowledge of the roads, it is suspected that he or she lives in the area and/ or knows it well.

Requests for CCTV footage and any other possible leads have also been made.
