A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed on the night of 11 September when his bakkie crashed into the centre median on Northumberland Road in Northriding.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 10.42pm to find the bakkie lying on its side in the middle of the road.

“The body of a man was found lying approximately 30 metres away while a second man was walking around on the scene,” he said.

“Paramedics assessed the men and found that one had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead on the scene,” Meiring indicated.

He explained that the second man was assessed and found to have sustained only minor injuries. “He was treated but later declined transportation to a hospital,” Meiring said.

He concluded by saying that the details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.
