Traffic congestion is about to become something of the past at the intersection of 9th Avenue, Haak-en-Steek Avenue and JG Strydom Road in the direction of Batoka Avenue, following the re-opening of the road.

One part of this road was closed off during last year, and remained closed until recently.

Community Liaison Officer for the F46 Rand Water Project Jan von der Heyde, confirmed that the road re-opened this past weekend.

“The road was reopened [two weekends ago] – it’s a stretch of 600 metres, on which we used the latest road-marking paint, containing crushed microcrystals to enhance reflection at night,” he explained.

When asked about the remaining road closures in Weltevreden Park, Jan said, “The balance of  JG Strydom Road will be opened later on”.

He also emphasised that he is in daily contact with the project manager and would only release information when he is authorised to do so. “I will not release any fake news and most certainly won’t leave anybody in the dark,” he concluded.
