Following the collapse of part of 9th Avenue in Weltevreden Park, Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, brought in the Johannesburg Roads Agency engineer, Joseph Modisaotsile, to share his perspective on the catastrophe.
David interviewed the engineer at the road closure on 9th Avenue between JG Strydom and Rugby Roads.
In the interview, Joseph explained what caused the road to collapse and the measures that will have to be taken by the contractor to reinstate it.
Met on site with JRA & Rand Water engineers and the closure of 9th Avenue between JG Strydom & Rugby Road is due to the collapse of the 9-meter deep trench through which the contractor will be Pipe-jacking the new pipe. The road will be opened to 1-lane only within the next 24 hours (not 4 hours as mentioned in the video). Here is comment from JRA, the closure has nothing to do with the grass fire and there is no damage to the SANRAL bridge.
