A collision between a taxi and a light motor vehicle yesterday afternoon, 12 September left 13 people injured. One of the victims was in a critical condition following the collision at the Hendrik Potgieter and Christiaan De Wet Roads intersection in Little Falls.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said his paramedics arrived on the scene at exactly 4:55pm to find the taxi and the light motor vehicle on the centre median.
“The light motor vehicle had come to a stop against the traffic light while the taxi had come to a stop against a refuse bin,” said Meiring.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the taxi driver lying trapped inside his vehicle in a critical condition.
“ER24 Rescue medics had to utilise various rescue tools to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, he was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions,” Meiring explained.
He added that 12 other victims were assessed on the scene, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
